Holy Mother Goddess, Ganges

This morning started off with another boat ride at 6am to watch morning prayers and e bathing of Hindu pilgrims at Dasashvamedha Ghat. Here, pilgrims make offerings to the mother goddess Ganges and Lord Shiva for protection and prayers. Kunal and I also each did pujas- a Hindu ritual where one gives offering to a deity for a blessing. Priest Ramji Pandey did the puja for blessings to each of our families. After we took a walk through the narrow alleys and were both able to go to the Vishwanath Temple, also known as the golden temple because of its think roof made of 750kg of pure gold. Unfortunately, I have no pictures of this to share with you as it may just be the most heavily protected area of the city. It was a rare and exceptional thing that I got to experience the blessings there as tourists and non-Hindus are actually forbidden from its walls.

Anyways, what a beautiful, once-in-a-lifetime, spiritual experience (I have no other way of putting it into words). Back at the hotel for an afternoon ayurvedic massage/nap and then off to Sarnath, the sacred city of Buddhism!

Om, Shanti. Peace, protection, and love to you all!
