the affair continues...

Right now, I sit from the comforts of my dearly missed couch. While I may no longer be in India, my blog continues on. I set out to write this blog for multiple reasons. For one, it was the most convenient platform to keep everyone updated with pictures and news of the adventures I would encounter on my trips. Then there was a more personal element to the project, to have a place where I could journal my experiences, thoughts and reflections while exploring. Thanks to an adventure of personal growth, beauty, and an overflow of amazing feedback and encouragement from readers, the blog continues to develop into a place of learning, beauty, and inspiration, even from ‘home.’ Of course, I will come across many more traveling destinations as my life is filled with curiosity for the world, but the real Wandering Affair is an affair with life itself- people, places and encounters anywhere in the world.

On that note, I hope you continue to keep up with new posts. Pictures will surely be included, along with new thoughts and hopefully some exciting moments! In the least, thanks for following thus far…

Namaste.

stuck in Jordan, with no visa

So, unfortunately, I missed my chance fro my last blog posting in Delhi. Typically, I am an organized and focused packer and traveler, but who could finish an adventure like this without having the "I've lost my passport scare"?!? I must have spoken too soon. After 6 of us worked diligently at 3am to empty my bags on a treasure hunt for my passport, we found it only to be met at the Delhi airport with severe issues for Kunal. To sum it up,the brilliant man at the Delhi counter was able to 'accidentally' delete kunals reservation within an hour and a half of us standing there. Obviously, it only took him a few seconds and the stroke of a finger to do so, but, added with his abilities to ignore us and actually walk away with kunals passport in hand, really solidified the experience. pretty sure K's passport was also flagged at immigration, but who's really counting our misery toll?!  With a bit of battery left, I have found a bar of wifi access and get to report to you from the cafe at the Amman airport. Please don't worry about recommending any lounges or such here, without visas, we're actually forbidden to leave the airport. Feel free to send prayers for things to be sorted out before Kunal has to make this lovely corner his new home... ohh, the joys of traveling.  I'm thinking that posting pics from our last day might just be the right touch to lift our moods, despite the fact that I've managed to catch another virus in the last few days. Yes, did I forget to mention I am deadly sick here too!? Good thing we grabbed my medicine cabinet to relieve weight from my checkin luggage! Anyways, joys of my last day in Delhi with my special chammaks... Enjoy! Peace and Namaste.

Aarti Mehendi

Birla Mandir 2

Birla Mandir

Mandirs and Mehendi

Another beautiful day in Delhi. I must say I'm getting sad thinking about leaving (aside from the excitement of seeing my fam back home, of course). This morning, I went to the Mandir, or temple, of Guru Ji, an inspirational teacher and healer. I won't break into a novel about religion or faith, but the reminders of spirituality are so abundant and extraordinary here. Whatever faith you follow, you can't help but be engulfed by the sense of peace, hope, and calmness in these places. Even the smallest things, like washing your hands and removing your shoes before entering temples as a sort of purification is something to be respected and admired. We also visited the Birla Temple, but both temples didn't allow pictures on the premises, so you will only get more fun shots of the day!  Tomorrow is the last full day of this trip which breaks my heart, so I'm sure I will have some silly and incredible pictures/posts. Wishing you love, peace, and the comfort of a beautiful family...
